Who we are...

Compassionate Nurses is a niche Nursing Service started by Chris, a Registered Nurse with a passion for making a difference during those most precious last days of life. 

We aim to slip seamlessly into your home and take the weight off the shoulders of those carrying it, so that you can relax, get some sleep and focus on just being able to treasure the intimacy of these last days. I have seen the difference it makes to have a nurse with a sensitive and compassionate heart, stand by the bedside with the family, and gently guide them through.

What we do...

It is our aim to provide you a high level of support, sensitivity and compassion. Because this is all we do, we are constantly developing a holistic package of care for both patient and carer that is already being spoken of as exceptional. Our qualified nurses are selected for their compassionate, caring hearts.

We in no way replace what our great Palliative Care teams are doing but rather work in conjunction with them and liaise with other health care professionals who are assisting you, providing a nurse in-home, to support patient and family in these last days over 8-12 hour shifts, especially overnight.

We can assist you with breakthrough medications, guide you through the emotional journey and how the process unfolds, give you suggestions of how you can contribute in a positive way, and assist you to "put things in order". We stay with you through the last Goodbye and gently assist you with the next couple of hours.  

When should you call us...

As your loved one is becoming weak and having difficulty finding the strength to get out of bed, is a good time to call. We generally start coming to you home some time during the last week, at around the time that the great Palliative Care Teams are commencing a syringe driver to keep your loved one pain free.
